Marissa Dimarco
Solicitor Director
Marissa has over 18 years’ post admission experience working in the legal profession practising primarily in commercial and corporate law and property law. Marissa founded Dimarco Commercial Lawyers in 2021, after spending 7 years as Partner in a National Law firm running a Corporate/Commercial and Property Law practice as well as 6 years as a Solicitor Director in a boutique commercial Newcastle-based law firm.
Marissa has worked with a number of clients across many specialised industries including construction, mining and manufacturing. Marissa regularly acts for a number of mining support businesses.
Marissa also has expertise working for a number of not for profit and charity organisations in relation to their corporate and commercial and property law requirements.
In addition, Marissa has extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience appearing in all court jurisdictions including the High Court of Australia. She has also appeared in a number of tribunals such as the Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal.
She has diverse legal experience in niche areas of law including water law under the Water Act (NSW) 1912 and Water Management Act (NSW) 2000. Marissa provides plain English advice on legal problems with business insight. She prides herself on understanding her client’s business and working with her clients to achieve the desired outcomes for each project.
Marissa is a Notary Public and a former Director on the Harness Racing NSW board which is the body that conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW.
Marissa was previously on the advisory board of Hunter Export Centre and was the winner of the 2009 Hunter Business Chamber’s ‘Young Achiever of the Year Award’

Alison Garland
Solicitor Director
Alison has 19 years’ experience working in the legal industry and 10 years post admission experience practising predominately in the areas of property and commercial transactional law.
For the past 9 years Alison has worked for a Newcastle based property and commercial law firm. In her role as a Senior Associate of that firm, Alison led the property team consisting of lawyers and licensed conveyancers.
Alison’s previous work experience has included working for two national based law firms within the commercial, property and finance division. During her career Alison has also practiced in litigation and employment law. It is this diverse range of experience and wholistic approach that gives Alison the ability to assist her clients to achieve the very best outcomes.
Alison is a well-respected and accomplished Solicitor with experience in all aspects of property law including more complex matters involving, Subdivision and Development, Commercial Property, Retail and Commercial Leasing, Off the Plan Contracts, Retirement Village Contracts and Retirement Village Law, Rural Land, Mining Licences, Forestry Agreements, Access Agreements, Resumption of Property by Government Authorities, Boundary Encroachments and Disputes, Strata Extinguishment, Drafting of Instruments, By-Laws and Management Statements, Water Resources Law and Environmental Law.
This experience has seen Alison assist local and national property developers, major government agencies, large construction companies, large manufacturing companies, engineering companies, quarries and civil construction companies and two large Newcastle based Building Societies.
Alison’s pragmatic approach sees her getting the best results for her clients in complex transactions. Alison prides herself on going the extra mile for her clients to get the job done and loves getting to know her clients and their business.

Isha Aprajita
Associate lawyer
Isha is a commercial solicitor with 8 years of experience in the profession. She is dual-qualified in Australia and India.
Isha has advised clients both domestically and internationally, on commercial transactions, sale of assets and businesses, legal compliance, and contractual disputes. She has experience working on a diverse range of transactions in the FMCG, technology, and healthcare sectors.
With extensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations in NSW, she has advised and represented clients in a variety of employment-related matters, including unfair dismissal claims, discrimination complaints, contract negotiations, and enterprise bargaining. She has an in-depth understanding of workplace policies and procedures, including those related to employee benefits and entitlements, privacy, and equal opportunity. Isha is also experienced in commencing and assisting businesses in enterprise bargaining and has assisted stakeholders across the healthcare sector and NFPs.
Before joining DGL, Isha was a part of the workplace relations team of an NSW-based law firm where she predominantly advised clients on employment law.
Prior to moving to Australia, Isha was a Senior Associate at a Mumbai-based law firm where she advised and represented clients on commercial law matters both in India and overseas (USA, UK, APAC).
She is fluent in English and Hindi.
Isha provides practical and strategic legal advice to our clients, helping them to navigate complex legal issues and achieve positive outcomes.

Chelsea Jovanovski
Law Clerk
Chelsea is our law clerk, supporting the team in preparing legal documents and conducting legal research.
She is currently in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) & Diploma of Legal Practice. Chelsea has previously completed a degree studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Politics and International Relations. As part of her study, Chelsea was placed on the Newcastle Law School’s Dean’s Merit List for her Contracts I Course. In 2023, as part of her practical legal training, Chelsea supported the University of Newcastle’s Legal Centre during ‘Law on the Beach’, offering free legal assistance to the Newcastle public.
